I tried where you take your hair, twist it, then warm it up with a flat iron to make waves and my hair turned out totally 80s. Did I used too little of twisted sections? Should I use like 4 big ones? Does anyone even do this?

you are better off using thin straighteners to make curls then tease them with your hands to make them a bit more loose. to curl you hair with straighteners you have to section your hair, do the underneath first and work your way up, then take a small section of hair, put your hair in them as if you were going to start straightening your hair then whilst your straighteners are clamped on your hair, twist the irons 180 degrees towards your head (with the hair still clamped) then pull tightly downwards then you hair should curl. try looking on the net for a demo video, it really works if you do it well!
