Victorian Cottage

Which house should I choose???

I am currently renting as I don't want to buy until UK housing becomes a reasonable price again and anyway I am living on a very busy road, its driving me mad! There are HGV's roaring past constantly and boy racers making a noise with those exhaust pipe attachments. What makes it worse is that I have a 4 month old baby boy who gets woken up by these atrocious sounds, day and night!

To the point: There are two house possibilities I have looked at. One is in my current town where my partner works, in fact 2 mins away. It's a three bed Victorian terrace in a quiet area opposite a park, looks very nice but has a shared garden. Option two is 13 miles away in a gorgeous Cotswold town and is a very small, two bed detached cottage on the High street (not busy) its very cute and has a woodburner but very expensive storing heating and is up five steps which could be tricky with a buggy.

So which do I choose???? Cheers in advance x

Here is a very simple technique I use to help me make difficult decisions like this.

Draw a vertical line on a sheet of paper and on one side of the line write down all the pros - the good things - about one of the houses. On the other side, write the cons.

Do this for the other house, and then compare the two pages. You'll find that one comes up with more pros than the other. Usually, when I see it all down on a piece of paper in front of me the answer becomes much more clear.

Hope this helps.
