Fixture Chandelier

Why won't CFL bulbs work in my old lighting fixture?

I recently bought my first house and in an effort to be energy and environmentally conscious, I have changed all the bulbs in the house to CFL bulbs. However, I have a six-socket chandelier in my dining work that doesn't seem to work with these bulbs. When I put six CFLs in, the fixture refuses to turn on. When I put the normal light bulbs back, the fixture switches on and off with no problem.

The base of the cfl is slightly larger than the incandescant base. This is because it has to house the ballast for the cfl.
Sometimes, this causes the bulb base to not fully engage the conductor at the bottom of the socket.
Turn off the circuit breaker powering the chandelier, then reach inside with a thin tool (like a dental pick) and gently pry up the connector at the bottom of the socket. Don't pry it up too much, it still needs to be able to bend back down when the bulb is inserted.
This should make them work.
