Self timer on Canon 7D?

I feel like a total dummy, but I just got a new Canon 7D and I can't figure out the self timer. I read the manual and I still can't get it to work. The book says press AF Drive the look at the LCD panel and turn the big knob and I see nothing on my LCD panel when I press the AF Drive button. And yes I have a remote that is compatible. Does anyone know how to set the timer?

Take it out of green square mode (so turn the dial to P Tv Av M B etc.

The AF drive button will now give you a split screen on the back LCD, the top one is for AF, you turn the input dial near the shutter release for AF modes, the rear input wheel should toggle between drive options. Theres a 2s and a 10s option. Remember to press 'set' to save your changes. And to change it back after you've finished with the timer.
