I have one of these fairly standard (U.S.) ceiling is shaped bowl and takes two bulbs. This thin sheet of tin is now out and the bulbs emit light directly on the fiber / insulation material. Is this a fire hazard? He is one of the three and I do not want to replace but I do not want to replace the house and my family either if you know what I mean. Can I put real tin foil in his place?
Most likely, the insulation is fiberglass, not a threat of fire. However, the paper is to deflect light and heat down, so it is best to replace, and generally easy to do.
