What is the best way to keep my old mail box from leaking air?

I have and old mail slot on the front of my door and it really leaks air. What is the best way to fix this problem?

Put a heavy plastic flap on the inside to reduce air flow.
Outside take a piece of wax paper, plastic, or aluminum foil and tape it across the opening with enough slack that is will conform to the opening. On the underside of the outer flap, clean it, put a good bead of 100% silicone caulk/adhesive and lower the door onto the paper and push to fit. What you are doing is making a formed gasket. After the caulk has set (over night) trim the paper so it doesn't show, peel it off if it will.
