How do I get the Arabic script translated into English?

I own a large (19 inch diameter), engraved decorative plate or engraved brass or copper, the center that appears to contain writing in what could be stylized Arabic script. How I could go on if she was learning Arabic and have it translated? It is too large to fit on my scanner.

If it is decorative, it is more likely Islamic. It is against Islamic beliefs to describe a person, animal or other type of life I think. Anyway, in general decorative art is either a pretty phenomenal geometry, or a written word that has been designed. Words are usually the Koran, most often related to the greatness of God. Your local college may have Arabic-speaking students who would be willing to help you understand. Incidentally, Persian and Arabic languages are different, so it is good to know too.
