Vintage Pulls
Posted in Garden Antiques on 01/21/2011 02:30 am by adminI need help with my vintage Raleigh technium front deraileur.?
I have a vintage raleigh technium roadbike. I took it to the shop to have a two chainring crankset instaled on it. I dont know much about bikes so I will do my best to explain problem.
The front deraileur is not working properly. whenever i try to shift to the bigger chainring, the deraileur pulls back. So, it shifts to bigger chainring, and unless i hold the shifter with my hand, the derailer pulls back on its own to smaller chanring. Can anyone tell me what needs to be adjusted so that the deraileur does not pull back adn stays on bigger chainring? thank you in advance.
If it uses friction shifters you need to tighten the screw that controls the friction. It should be in the center pivot area of the shifter. Turn it in just a little to provide enough friction so it stays put. You want a balance between staying put and easy to shift.
