What works best to remove candle wax from the inside of my glass sconce cups? ?

I have some sconces that I used to burn a candle in and now the waxy residue and the remainder of the wick on the inside of the glass won't come out. Any suggestions? I would like to have them look good again. Thanks.
All the wax is out, but there is the residue left. I will try both the freezer trick as well as the microwave trick and see what works best. My best answer will be awarded to the one that gives me a solution that works.

Put boiling water in it.
and soak it with dishsoap or all purpose cleaner.
