Are you supposed to put handles on faux drawers?

We will be installing hardware on our cabinets and drawers. Do we need to install handles/knobs on the drawers that are not actually drawers and just have the drawer face? I guess my concern would be that someone may pull on it thinking it's a drawer and break it our or something. The kitchen has 2 faux drawers in front by the sink and there are 2 in each bathroom.

My father-in-law is a contractor and I have seen both designs myself, it is a personal preference from the customers. In my opinion, putting them on makes for a more uniform appearance, but nothing says you have to. And if you are more concerned with someone damaging the drawers, leave them off.
