Are they generally thin horses, or can this kind of saddle fit any horse? Do any tack shops sell this kind of saddle new, or are they all antique?
They still make them new, and that is the way to go. The antique ones are made for very small, weedy horses as that is what they had then, and the more modern horses are bred much broader, let alone better fed!! =)
The new ones come in various widths, just like any western or english saddle.
