I inherited a brass bed that appears to have been cleaned with acid or something corrosive, perhaps a brasso job never completed, anyway, the stains don't come out with brasso. Any suggestions. Photos can be seen at http://gallery.me.com/robmctavish#100015 thanks so much.
Hi there, part of it is verdigris, but it is the brown stains that I can't buff out, it seems like something rather corrosive was used to clean the brass. That is brown part in the photos. Thanks though!!
it is probably verdigris a common etched stain brass gets, if you can take it apart a polisher can get it back to a real shine, then it has to be lacquered.
i looked at the photos, verdigris is a green rust, so polishing looks to be the solution, and it looks like the old lacquer is falling away
