Bevel Hammered

How can I get the shelves off and then the mirrors off short of taking a hammer to the whole thing?

I have an alcove about 66"x48" which has beveled glass mirrors on the walls and glass shelves running from one wall to the other. The mirrors are glued to the plasterboard walls and the shelves are glued to the mirrors.

That's a tricky one! Have you tried getting a glass cutter? They work like a utility knife. Just score the glass and tap it. It should break without all the shards on the line you scored. That should make it easier to get to the mirrors at least. For those I'd try getting a rigid putty knife or a hive tool (used for getting frames out of bee hives) and try working it behind the mirrors. Again no guarantees but then you could always just go with the hammer! Good luck!
