Any Pre
Posted in Garden Antiques on 06/16/2008 06:23 am by adminAny experience or risks buying a car from a Canadian dealer who imports pre-owned cars from the US?
I am looking to buy a used 2008 Lexus RX350. The prices from Canadian dealerships, vs. those Canadian dealerships that import used US cars can vary by about 8,000. I'm just looking for anyone with experience buying a pre-owned US car in Canada to see if it's too good to be true. Also any issues servicing these US cars in Canada. Thanks!
An imported US model will have an odometer in miles and the Canadian dealer organization may not honor any remaining factory warranty. This alone could cost you your entire cost savings if there is a major problem.
As well, the car may need to be modified to have daytime running lights to meet Canadian spec before you can register it.
Check on the Transport Canada web site to make sure that the US spec model meets Canadian spec or not.
Generally though, if you can afford a 2008 Lexus, you can afford a brand new one. I would not bother with a used car that new.
