My boyfriend has a hardback book called The Tar-Baby & Other Rhymes Of Uncle Remus written by Joel Chandler Harris. It says on one of the first few pages "published, September, 1904".
I was wondering about how much this book would sell for. The condition is fair and is as expected would be with an older book. Some of the front cover is worn to a lighter orange color than the original and is embossed in gold color. Some of the pages are loose and as far as I have inspected none are missing.
So does anyone have a rough idea of how much this book might cost? I know that the book is pretty popular and I did find republished ones online but I could not manage to find any on sale from the year 1904.
Your best bet is to take it to a reputable rare book dealer near you. Because of the way books are graded, no one can give you an accurate value over the phone or the net.
There are simply too many factors that go into grading a book for a verbal description.
