How do we find out how much an antique brass cash register is worth?

We think my grandparents may have used it around the late 40's early 50's

The first question is: What brand? Then, What condition?
What serial number. If it is a National Cash Register then you can date it by the serial number here http://brassregisters.com/ncr/info/dates.htm
